Family Corner Guest House
Around midday, we arrive at Family Corner Guest House in the village of Gandzani, where you will have the opportunity to meet a local family and experience genuine Georgian hospitality.
Your hosts will introduce you to traditional local fishing techniques and share stories about life in the Javakheti highlands.
The cozy, family-run atmosphere makes this more than just a stop along the way — it is a chance to experience the warmth and authenticity of rural Georgia.
You can also enjoy a selection of traditional homemade dishes, such as Georgian mtsvadi (barbecue) and, when available, freshly caught local fish.
For those who would like to extend their experience, an overnight stay at the guest house can also be arranged.
Fishing at Lake Sagamo
We then continue to Lake Sagamo, a spectacular high-altitude lake located on the Javakheti Plateau in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, at approximately 1,996 meters above sea level.
Surrounded by wide open landscapes and mountain scenery, the lake offers a peaceful setting far from the busy city.
Its cold waters are fed by underground springs, rainfall, and snowmelt, creating a natural environment for mountain fish species.
Depending on the season and local conditions, you may have the opportunity to catch species such as:
- Trout - a natural inhabitant of Georgia’s clean mountain waters.
- Grayling - a prized species among sport-fishing enthusiasts.
- Common char - occasionally found in the lake.
- Carp and grass carp - present in some stocked waters in the region.
Fishing time: approximately 1,5-2 hours.

Return to Tbilisi
