Day 1 - Bodbe Monastery, Nekresi Monastery, Wine Tasting & Lakeside Lunch

Bodbe Monastery
One of Georgia's most significant religious sites, set in the picturesque Alazani Valley and dedicated to St. Nino, who played a key role in bringing Christianity to Georgia.
- The main cathedral, built in the 9th century, is notable for its architectural grandeur.
- Church of St. Nino: home to the saint's relics, drawing pilgrims from across the country.
- Holy spring: located near the temple, believed to have healing properties (visit not guaranteed).
Nekresi Monastery
One of Georgia's oldest monasteries, offering some of the most spectacular views over the Alazani Valley.
- History: founded in the 6th century by Father Abibos (Aviv), one of the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers who spread Christianity in Kakheti. Most surviving buildings date to the 9th–11th centuries.
- Regional significance: Nekresi became Father Abibos's episcopal seat and a major center of learning, where monks studied theology and copied manuscripts - as well as a frequent target of enemy attacks due to its influence.
- Mountaintop setting: the ruins of the ancient town of Nekresi are visible from the monastery grounds below.

Telavi & Alaverdi Monastery
Telavi, the administrative center of Kakheti, is home to Alaverdi Monastery, one of Georgia's oldest and most important religious sites.
- Monastery tour: founded in the 6th century and still an active religious center, with an ancient church, bell tower, and peaceful gardens.
- Panoramic views: sweeping vistas over the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains from the monastery grounds.
Sighnaghi - the "City of Love"
A picturesque hilltop town known for its romantic atmosphere and panoramic views.
- Walking tour: narrow cobbled streets, the central square, and the Sighnaghi Museum for a look at local history.
