Day 1 - Vardzia Cave City & Rabati Fortress

Vardzia Cave City
Located 60 km from Akhaltsikhe and 10 km from Aspindza, Vardzia is one of Georgia's most ancient and unique archaeological sites.
- Guided excursion: explore the cave city's ancient temples, dwellings, and storage rooms carved directly into the rock.
- Cave complex: founded in the 12th century, Vardzia served for centuries as a strategic and religious center. Highlights include the rock-cut Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a still-functioning traditional bread oven. Your guide will also take you to Vardzia Monastery, fortified under King George III.
- Monastery walk: surviving frescoes and architecture, with views over the Kura River and surrounding mountains.
- Rock chambers: ancient temples, wine cellars, and food storage areas carved into the cliffside.
Rabati Fortress
A historical and cultural center founded in the Middle Ages, layered with Ancient Greek, Roman, Arab, and Ottoman

A natural paradise as much as a resort, famed for its mineral springs.
- Borjomi Park walk: stroll among the springs feeding the town's thermal resorts and sample Borjomi water straight from the source.
- Mineral waters: learn the history and healing properties behind the springs at the park's drinking pavilions.
Green Monastery (St. George Monastery)
Just 7 km from Borjomi, tucked into a gorge among dense forest and a fast-flowing river - one of Georgia's oldest monasteries for men, with a quiet, storied history and a spring of holy water on site. A peaceful stop for travelers seeking silence.
Tbilisi Sightseeing Tour
Back in Tbilisi, a full walking tour through the city's highlights:
- Old Town - Tsminda Sameba/Sioni and Sharden Street: explore one of Georgia's most important religious landmarks, then wander Sharden Street's cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

- Narikala Fortress: panoramic views over Tbilisi, the Kura River, and the Old Town - reachable by cable car from Rike Park.
- Abanotubani sulfur baths: the historic bathhouse district once favored by Georgian royalty, with the option to book a traditional bath session.
- Bridge of Peace: the modern glass pedestrian bridge linking the Old Town with new Tbilisi.
