Abudelauri Colored Lakes Hike (1 Day Tour)

Abudelauri Colored Lakes Hike (1 Day Tour)

Programm:

Abudelauri Colored Lakes Hike
Explore the Turquoise, Green & Milky-White Lakes of the Caucasus

A spectacular alpine hike beneath the dramatic Chaukhi Massif

Discover one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in Georgia on a full-day hiking adventure to the Abudelauri Colored Lakes.

Hidden deep in the remote Khevsureti region, near the mountain village of Roshka, the three Abudelauri Lakes are famous for their strikingly different colors. Set at an altitude of approximately 2,800 meters, beneath the dramatic peaks and cliffs of the Chaukhi Massif, the lakes create a surreal alpine landscape unlike anywhere else in Georgia.

The hike is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurous travelers looking to escape the crowds and experience the peaceful beauty of Georgia's high mountains.

The Abudelauri Lakes
Blue Lake

The most vivid and photogenic of the three lakes, Blue Lake is famous for its deep turquoise-blue waters.

Surrounded by rugged mountain scenery and alpine meadows, it is an ideal place to stop, relax, take photographs, and enjoy the spectacular views.

The intense color of the water creates a beautiful contrast with the surrounding mountains, making this one of the most memorable viewpoints along the route.

Green Lake

The Green Lake is known for its fascinating changing colors.

Depending on the sunlight, weather, and time of day, its surface can appear anywhere from emerald green to golden green.

Located in a peaceful alpine setting, the lake offers a quiet place to enjoy nature and take in the surrounding mountain landscape.

White Lake

The most mysterious of the three, White Lake has a distinctive milky-gray or pale appearance caused by glacial sediments carried into the lake.

Located beneath the steep slopes of the Chaukhi Massif, it is the highest of the three lakes and offers a dramatic introduction to the Abudelauri landscape.

The combination of pale water, dark mountain cliffs, and open alpine scenery makes White Lake one of the most spectacular photography spots on the route.

Best Time to Visit: June - September

The best time to hike to the Abudelauri Lakes is from June to September, when the mountain trails are generally free of snow and the lakes are filled with glacial meltwater.

During the summer months, the surrounding alpine meadows are green and colorful, while the long daylight hours provide ideal conditions for hiking and photography.

Mountain weather can still change quickly, even in summer, so warm and windproof clothing is essential.

Difficulty Level: Moderate

The route includes a steady mountain ascent and descent and takes place at high altitude.

The trail passes through alpine meadows, rocky sections, and uneven mountain terrain. A reasonable level of physical fitness and comfortable hiking shoes are recommended.

The altitude of approximately 2,800 meters can make the hike more demanding than a similar-distance walk at lower elevations.

Set beneath the dramatic Chaukhi slopes, the lake creates an impressive contrast between its pale, milky waters and the rugged mountain cliffs surrounding it.

This is also an excellent opportunity for photography. Bright-colored clothing is recommended to create a striking contrast against the pale lake and mountain scenery.

Continue our hike toward Blue Lake, the most vibrant and photogenic of the three.

The turquoise water, alpine meadows, and surrounding mountain peaks create a spectacular setting for photographs and relaxation.

Take some time to enjoy the scenery, explore the area, and simply appreciate the peaceful atmosphere of this remote mountain landscape.

16:00 - Visit Green Lake

Continue to the final lake - the beautiful Green Lake.
